The Power of Volume and Value for Instagram Growth
Our journey began with a simple realization: volume is key to social media success. Armed with this knowledge, we brainstormed ways to provide value and post frequently in our field. Drawing on the wealth of knowledge we had acquired from the internet, YouTube, and Masterclasses, we had an abundance of great content to share. We had saved valuable and interesting posts on various topics, such as filmmaking, video, BTS, VFX, animation, and motivation, which served as the foundation for our strategy.
Reposting and Engagement
We started by reposting this curated content, three times a day, along with descriptions, our personal views, tags of the creators, and yes, hashtags! Admittedly, maintaining this posting pace was challenging, especially since we hadn’t been active on our business profile for months. But we persevered, reminding ourselves that this was only temporary until the end of the year. After three weeks, we saw encouraging results with approximately 500 new followers and decided to ramp up our efforts to four posts per day.

How to grow Instagram
The Power of Volume and Value for Instagram Growth It started out with a simple realization: volume is the key to success on social. Armed with this information, we brainstormed ideas for how to both add value and post often, and on topic. We had a lot of great content to share, referring to the wealth of knowledge we had picked from the internet, YouTube, and Masterclasses. We had saved very interesting and valuable posts on varied subjects like filmmaking, video, BTS, VFX, animation, and even motivational, which later was a platform on strategy.
Reposting and Engagement
We started with reposting, three publications a day, with descriptions, personal comments, and creator tags. oh yes, hashtags! Continue the rate of posting, and of course, it wasn’t easy—especially remembering that for previous periods, we literally did not post anything on our business profile for months. But we always held to the fact that this was just up to the end of the year. Three weeks later, we started getting some good results of approximately 500 new followers, and we decided to scale up the posting to four posts a day.
Consistent Growth and Insights As I continued to post, indeed, the followers seemed to increase, with the Instagram account growing by an average of about 20 new followers every day. Each of those numbers was growing week to week, while we thoroughly watched insights and stats to know more about our audience and track the progress that is being made. Our approach didn’t change throughout: volume and providing value to our followers.
Unlocking Engagement
And by the end of the year, we had grown on Instagram up to 6k followers and established the habit of posting. But we arrived at the realization that the number of followers is continually growing; however positive it might seem, the level of their engagement didn’t go up to the point we expected it to reach. We went through the insights, comparing the performance of the posts vis-à-vis the other. It was an “aha.” moment for us when we realized that the audience really knew best on what content they would want to see. So we fine-tuned our approach accordingly.
Doubling Down on Successful Content Informed by a better understanding of our audiences’ preferences, we, in February 2020, doubled down on the type of posts that found most resonance. As a result, our engagement significantly improved, and our account began to gain over 300 followers a day, with peaks to 600, and occasional dips to 250. As I write this, @video_production_school has more than 45k followers, daily realized.

This way, our journey of gaining 10k followers in less than three months, with no ad spend or original content, proves the power of volume and value on social media. By following up with useful content posted regularly, we were responding to their needs in a way that has brought good effects. Remember, it is not what we think is best for them; it is what they want. Therefore, if you truly wish to grow your followership, focus on adding value and engaging your followers. And who knows, maybe you’ll do better than we have!
